CONGRATULATIONS TO
KURT DAVEY

Kurt winning contest entry --

"For a Mercury Upgrade I would organize a community fund raising event for the financially struggling, non-profit Encinitas School of Music—where I took my first guitar lessons and got hooked on guitar (www.esom.org).

"The school has a great group of dedicated instructors. They have all kinds after school programs and summer music camps for kids. But they are in desperate need of facility repairs, improvements, instruments and equipment.

"I would also donate my old amp (that I'll be upgrading with the Fender '57 Deluxe) to the school or to an aspiring guitar student in financial need.

"I talked with the director of the school at a show where a mutual friend was performing a few months ago. We discussed the idea of putting on a special event where the instructors and students would perform for the community.

"If chosen for the Mercury Upgrade I will donate my time and resources to devise and put on a successful community fund raising event that would include a lot of great music, get the school some much needed exposure and funds, and of course... I will tell everyone I talk to about Mercury Magnetics."

"Thank you for the kind note and thank you for the '57 Deluxe.

"I watched your YouTube videos demoing the '57 Deluxe at NAMM and have been waiting impatiently for it to arrive.

"The amp was waiting for me when I got home from work last night. I fired it up this morning after getting the kids off to school and ended up being three hours late to work :)

"What a fantastic amp!  My '65 Strat Relic has never sounded better. The bridge/middle pickup position plugged into Instrument 1 with the amp on 7 and tone straight up sounds HUGE. I didn't expect such a full low end and punchy midrange from a 1x12 combo. My guitar actually seemed easier to play.

"My '63 NOS Telecaster sounds unmistakably like a vintage Tele through the '57 Deluxe. I'm going to have a lot of fun with that axe and this amp cranking out dirty blues riffs.

"Next I tried my '90 ES 335 Studio, a semi-hollow body with no f-holes and very high output Dirty Fingers humbuckers, plugged into the Mic 1 jack. With the '57 Deluxe volume on 10 and tone set to 7, I am easily able to coax everything from liquid smooth jazz to all out raunchy rock while only using the controls on the guitar. The complex harmonic content of the saturated 12AX7s and 6V6s in this circuit is incredible. No need for NOS tubes in this amp.

"I am very impressed with not only how quiet the amp is, but how expansive and open it sounds at reasonable volumes. The sweet spot for this amplifier is anywhere between 2 and 12. I believe the Mercury Magnetics transformers have a lot to do with this and the extraordinary touch sensitivity of the '57 Deluxe.

"You know where I'll be over the Thanksgiving holiday? Watching football on TV? No way. I'll be within a guitar cord length of my new Fender '57 Deluxe.

"Thanks again to the staff at Fender and Mercury Magnetics. You guys Rock!

"Best regards, Kurt Davey

"P.S. Also, I am committed to helping the struggling, non-profit Encinitas School of Music."
